Welcome to Akshita Iyer, Engage’s new corporate insights lead.
Please join us in welcoming Akshita Iyer to Tech Square Ventures, where she will lead two of our Engage corporate working groups: Supply Chain and AI (including data, analytics, and cybersecurity).
Akshita brings a rare combination of scientific depth, startup grit, operational innovation, and strategic insight. She began her career as a scientist, conducting research and co-authoring several scientific papers as part of Duke University’s neuroscience labs. While there, an accidental fire on her mother’s stove inspired her to pivot her career to found a startup company that would prevent similar fires in other households.
Her company, Ome, created a smart home kitchen safety product that would automatically turn off stove burners. Akshita and Ome gained national attention, including receiving a live investment offer on Shark Tank. She later went on to win Atlanta Startup Battle, one of the Southeast’s most competitive startup showcases.
Through Ome, Akshita learned the full range of startup realities — product development, manufacturing, and global supply chains — all while partnering closely with large, global manufacturers. The experiences of weaving together new products, digital innovation, physical supply chains, and enterprise partnerships make her a unique and welcome addition to our team and our Engage network.
In her role at Engage, Akshita will work directly with leaders across our corporate partners to identify emerging trends in supply chain and AI. She will collaborate with the investment leads at Tech Square Ventures and our partners at Georgia Tech to craft proprietary investing theses that we will use to find innovative startups and help accelerate partnerships with our corporate partners.
We are excited to have Akshita and her unique background as a scientist, founder, operator, and strategist on our team.
Please join us in welcoming Akshita Iyer! 🎉
